Academic Background: Digital Production, Design and Development T-Level, New College Durham

Industrial Placement: 315 hours T-Level Placement (Gateshead)

Areas of Interest: Working in Unreal, both art and programming but leaning more towards art.

Challenge

The biggest challenge for me was the amount of computers within a small office. However, it was nice to have staff in the room to ask questions when required. The travel was also a slight issue due to the placement being a long way from my home and college.

Outcome

I have had a really good time during my placement, and I have enjoyed learning the the software design and game development elements. I really enjoyed working in Unreal and felt I got the hang of it quite easily, I like programming and art but feel as though I’m leaning more towards the art side.

Impact

I feel like I am a lot more sure and motivated to continue towards my goals. My concentration levels have improved greatly as a part of the placement. Taking part in the placement has shown me how much I enjoy the coding side of things which is helpful to me for my future plans.
